Many small businesses start with a Facebook page or an Instagram account, and that makes sense: it's free, it's easy, and your customers are already there. But a page on its own quietly leaves gaps, and the biggest one is that people are looking for you and not finding you.
People search on Google, not on your page
When someone needs a dentist, a pharmacy or a shop nearby, they usually type it into Google or open Maps. They don't scroll through Facebook. However good your posts are, they slide down your feed over time and rarely turn up in search results in a way that helps you.
There's a newer way people ask, too: AI assistants. Someone types "is there a vet open near me right now?" into their phone, and the assistant answers from the pages it can read. A lot of what's on social media sits behind a login or is buried under older posts. A clear website with your services, hours and address is something an assistant can actually read and understand.
That's why every site we build is prepared for Google: a title and description for each page, a sitemap, and your business details, address and hours in the format Google reads. Every site also has a plain-text version of its details, written for these assistants to read easily. Nobody can promise you a particular ranking, and we won't. But without a website, you're not in the running at all.
Answer their questions, then let them reach you in one tap
Someone looking for you has simple questions. What do you do? How much is it? Where are you? When are you open? On a page, the answers are scattered: the hours sit in a field nobody updates, the address is in a post from two years ago, and the prices are "send us a message". So the customer sends a message and waits, and may give up and go to someone else.
On a website, it's all in one place:
- Your services or products, with prices and photos.
- Your opening hours, and your address on a map.
- A WhatsApp button that opens a ready-written message, so the customer can send it to you straight away without typing a thing. From the Catalog plan up, every service gets its own button, with its name already in the message.
And if your plan lets you edit the site yourself, you can change your hours, prices and photos from your phone whenever you like, so the site is always right.
An address in your name, and messages that don't get lost
Your Facebook page runs on Facebook's rules. Facebook decides who sees your posts, and a competitor's ad can turn up right beside yours in the feed. On your own site, visitors see you and nobody else.
Your site gets an address in your business's name on site4u.live, ready for your business card, your shop sign and your bio. From the System Plus plan up, it also gets a domain in your business's name, which we buy, renew and connect for you. And the content is yours: your words, your photos and your customers' details. You can download a full copy from your dashboard at any time.
The same goes for messages. On social media they get mixed in with comments, ads and spam, and an important question from a customer can end up buried under everything else. On your site, the messages visitors send through the contact form arrive in an inbox in your dashboard, and in your email too, on every plan. So a customer's question doesn't get lost on a busy day.
You don't have to give up your page
A website doesn't replace social media. Keep posting on Facebook and Instagram as you do now, and put your site's link in your bio and in your posts. Your page brings people in; your site reassures them and brings them to you.
You don't need to know anything about technology, either. We design the site, launch it, host it and look after it, with support all month: ask for any change from your dashboard and we'll get back to you.
